Ermilo Espinosa

Ermilo Espinosa

Visual artist specialized in painting, with great interest in the technical handling, as well as in the poetic and philosophical aspect of the work. He has a degree in Visual Arts with an orientation in Painting from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico; he has also studied in various renowned cultural centers in his country. His encounter with painting comes from childhood, due to the great influence of his grandfather, Ermilo Torre Gamboa, a renowned Yucatecan artist.

Ermilo Espinosa has sought, since his beginnings, the mastery of the brush and deep communication with the viewer: "The painting I seek lives with one foot in the present and another in timelessness, taking a step into the local and another in the universal. It responds to social and political life, it portrays the current and ephemeral reality, but it also seeks poetry that delves into the most internal human emotions and conditions that transcend time and geography. It must be brutal and beautiful, cruel and hopeful".

The artist has presented several solo exhibitions, highlighting Visiones en Silencio (Casa Oswaldo Guayasamín. Havana, Cuba. July 2007), Murmullos en Babel (Centro Cultural de Mérida Olimpo. Mérida, Yucatán. July 2008) Ausencias y Presencias (Museo José Luis Cuevas. Cd. De México. November 2012), MUTE (Museo Casa Diego Rivera. Guanajuato, Gto. November 2013), FACE TO FACE. (Hotel de Manville, Salon de la Mayor. Les Baux, France. July 2015), ERMILO ESPINOSA TORRE (Au Medicis, Galerie Marguerite Milin. Paris, France. March 2016) and Lo Exterior de lo Interior (LS Galería, Mexico City, November 2019).
